Tbilisi: In the first nine months of this year, Georgia imported 372.76 million kilowatt-hours of electricity from Azerbaijan, APA’s local bureau reports, citing the report of the Georgian State Electrosystem JSC.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, compared to the same period last year, Georgia’s electricity imports from Azerbaijan increased 6.7 times. During the reporting period, Georgia’s total electricity imports amounted to 1 billion 542 million kilowatt-hours. The main supplier was Russia with 672.73 million kilowatt-hours, accounting for 43.6% of the imports. Azerbaijan contributed to 24.18% of Georgia’s electricity demand.

From January to September, 519.94 million kilowatt-hours of electricity were transited from Azerbaijan to Trkiye via Georgia. This figure is down 49% year-on-year.
