Georgian Economy Ministry Highlights Impact of BTK Railway on Regional Transport Accessibility

Baku: The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway line, a collaborative initiative between Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey, is recognized as a strategic project enhancing the connectivity between Europe and Asia, according to Georgia's Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development. This railway project is expected to play a crucial role in boosting the region's transport accessibility and capacity.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the ministry emphasized the BTK railway's potential to create additional transit capacity in the area, contributing significantly to the diversification of cargo transportation. This development is anticipated to enhance the region's ability to manage increased transport demands.

The statement from the ministry highlighted that the volume of cargo transported via the BTK railway has been on a steady rise over the years. With the full commissioning of the line, the project's carrying capacity is projected to increase to up to 5 million tons.
