Baku: The Georgian media outlets widely covered the remarks made by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on September 15 during a meeting with a delegation comprising members and observers of the Council of Heads of Muslim Religious Boards of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), co-organizers of the Yahya Bakuvi International Conference, and members of the Supreme Religious Council of Caucasian Peoples.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the news portals such as imedinews.ge, newshub.ge, 1tv.ge, rustavi2.ge and TV channels featured the Azerbaijani President's remarks concerning the Council of Europe and the European Parliament. The news portal of ImediNews quoted President Ilham Aliyev as describing the European Parliament as a "nest of corrupt figures," highlighting a specific incident involving a Greek member of the European Parliament, who was allegedly involved in a corruption scandal yet faced no accountability.
President Aliyev further elaborated on Azerbaijan's unique position as one of the few Muslim countries participating in European organizations. He expressed that despite facing injustices as a member of the Council of Europe, Azerbaijan remains steadfast in protecting its national dignity and way of life. The President stressed that Azerbaijan would continue to resist external pressures and campaigns against its moral and cultural values.
