Baku:Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has signed a decision for the construction of a new Georgian Embassy building in Baku, Azerbaijan. The project will be managed by Georgia's Municipal Development Fund, which is responsible for procuring design and construction services.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, the embassy will be situated on a 3,444.5-square-meter plot at the intersection of Nariman Narimanov and Bashir Safaroglu streets in Baku's Yasamal district. The project will be executed under a "Design-Build" contract, covering both design and construction phases.
The construction is scheduled to commence in 2026, with funding allocated from Georgia's state budget for its Municipal Development Fund. Subsequent financing will be included in the 2027 budget and potentially in later budgets if required. Once completed, the new building will be managed by the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The land for the embassy was provided by Azerbaijan in January 2025, designated for both the embassy premises and the ambassador's residence. The current location of the Georgian Embassy in Azerbaijan is at 13/15 Yashar Huseynov Street in Baku's Narimanov district.
