DUSHANBE: Re-exports of motor cars from Georgia to Tajikistan have grown significantly since 2019, Trend reports.
Data from Georgia’s National Statistics Office shows that the number of cars re-exported to Tajikistan increased from 522 in 2019 to 2,487 in 2023. The value of these exports also rose sharply, from $3.555 million to $29.258 million.

Even during the COVID-19 pandemic with global restrictions in 2020 and 2021, re-exports to Tajikistan increased. In comparison, only 222 cars were re-exported in 2018, valued at $1.543 million.
However, in the first half of 2024, there has been a decline compared to the same period last year. During January-June 2024, 694 cars were re-exported, valued at $10.249 million. There was a 51 percent drop in
volume compared to 1,435 cars in January-June 2023 and a 35 percent decrease in value compared to $15.842 million in the same period last year.
