Baku:Economic diversification is a strategic priority for Azerbaijan, as highlighted by Nargiz Wieck, Executive Director of the German-Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce (AHK Azerbaijan), during the German-Azerbaijani Business Conference held in Baku.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, agriculture and food processing are key areas in Azerbaijan's economic transformation. The country aims to strengthen food security and boost exports by creating added value domestically through processing, increasing productivity, improving quality, and reducing losses. The government's development program for 2026-2030 plans significant public and private investments in modernizing the value chain.
The demand for modern solutions in processing fruits and vegetables, dairy, meat products, and grains is rising, alongside needs for cooling, storage, filling, and packaging. German engineering is recognized for its innovative technologies and reliable industrial solutions, which are essential for automation, digitalization, food safety, quality control, and energy efficiency.
Although German equipment may not have the lowest purchase price, the total cost over the equipment's lifespan, including productivity, resource consumption, and maintenance, is a critical consideration. German companies not only supply equipment but also offer long-term partnerships, tailored engineering solutions, and financing mechanisms, including export financing.
These firms support the setup and commissioning of equipment, train local employees, and provide ongoing after-sales services, including maintenance and technical support. German technologies also enhance food safety, product traceability, and international certification, which are crucial for Azerbaijani companies targeting export markets.
