Baku:The Global South Youth Platform (GSYP), initiated by the Baku Initiative Group (BIG), has expanded its reach, now including representation from 40 countries. This collaborative network aims to advance global justice by uniting young people under shared objectives.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the GSYP was launched in May and focuses on promoting peace, solidarity, and decolonization. It seeks to empower Global South youth within international decision-making processes. The platform includes participants from Africa, Asia, Europe, the Caribbean, and the Pacific, and features representatives from territories such as New Caledonia, French Polynesia, and others.
The platform's initiatives address critical issues like decolonization, human rights protection, and combating social and economic inequality. In its short tenure, GSYP has organized two international events discussing the impacts of colonial legacies and the role of youth in urban planning.
By fostering a space for dialogue and collaboration, the GSYP aims to amplify the voices of the Global South in international forums, promoting experience exchange and joint initiatives.
