Baku: Global investors resumed investing in physically backed gold exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in July, APA-Economics reports, citing a report by the World Gold Council.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, global gold ETFs recorded net inflows of $3 billion in July. This offset the net outflows recorded over the previous two months. Inflows were recorded across all regions, with the largest increase coming from funds listed in Europe. European funds attracted $2 billion in July, marking the region's second-highest monthly inflow this year. UK funds recorded inflows of $875 million, while Swiss funds attracted $657 million.
Global gold ETFs' assets under management (AUM, the total value of assets managed by the funds) increased by 1% in July to $530 billion. During the same period, the total gold holdings of global physically backed gold ETFs increased by 23 tonnes to 4,068 tonnes. However, this figure at the end of July remained below the record level of 4,176 tonnes recorded on February 27, 2026.
The report further states that total inflows into global gold ETFs amounted to $11 billion from the beginning of 2026 through the end of July. During this period, the total gold holdings of global gold ETFs increased by 39 tonnes.
