Hande Harmanci commented on issue regarding lockdowns due to Omicron

“An increase is observed in the number of infections regarding the Omicron strain of the COVID-19,” Hande Harmanci, Head of the World Health Organization Office in Azerbaijan told journalists, APA reports.

She noted that measures to be taken in this regard are the same: “I invite those who have not been vaccinated, to the vaccination. The number of infections is so high, but the disease is mostly mild. There is no increase in the number of deaths. New strains may emerge after that. The government may adopt decision regarding the lockdowns”.

She noted that WHO and UNICEF support keeping schools open: “We recommend to locally implement restrictions if it is needed”.
