Head of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Meets with Turkish Archaeologists

Baku: President of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), academician Isa Habibbayli, met with professor Saban Dogan, Chairman of the Turkish Institute of Archaeology and Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and Burcu Bilir, an archaeologist and member of the Climate Action Network.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, academician Isa Habibbayli highlighted archaeological excavations conducted by the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of ANAS in Karabakh, Khojaly, Aghdam, and Asgaran districts last year. He also mentioned that upcoming excavations are planned in the Lachin and Kalbajar districts.

The head of ANAS emphasized that a memorandum of cooperation signed between the Turkish Archaeology and Cultural Heritage Institute and the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology would boost future joint archaeological research, expeditions, and projects.

Professor Saban Dogan stressed that the primary objective of the Institute of Turkish Archaeology and Cultural Heritage is to conduct research on Turkish and Islamic archaeology, especially in Turkic speaking countries, as well as in the Balkans and the Middle East.
