Baku: The Middle Corridor is transitioning from a simple transportation route to a strategic geo-economic system that connects Europe, the South Caucasus, Central Asia, and beyond, stated Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration. Hajiyev made these remarks during his address via video link at the annual Trans-Caspian Forum.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Hajiyev emphasized that the ongoing conflict escalation in the Gulf region and the Middle East has increased the Middle Corridor's significance. He highlighted the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway as a key component of this corridor. He further elaborated that the connectivity architecture's critical dimension includes linking with Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan region. The emerging Zangezur corridor is viewed as a strategic segment within the Middle Corridor, with the potential to enhance East-West connectivity and reinforce Azerbaijan's direct link to Trkiye and broader European countries.
