Baku: Homemade food caused mass poisoning in Astara. The Food Safety Agency has conducted investigations to determine the causes of the incident that occurred in a household setting in Astara district, AFSA told APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the investigation concluded that the incident was not due to watermelon poisoning, as previously speculated. Instead, it was found that residents of Astara district consumed food prepared at home during a small wedding ceremony. The event was held in the courtyard of Heydarli Samir Firdovsi oglu in Motlayatag village on 03.09.2025.

Samples of the home-cooked food from the ceremony were taken and analyzed in a laboratory. They also urged consumers to rely only on information provided by official bodies to prevent confusion and anxiety.
