Baku: Human cloning will not be recognized as a patentable subject, APA reports. This decision is part of an amendment to the Law 'On Patents' that was deliberated during today's session of the Milli Majlis.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the amendment specifies that methods of human cloning and human clones, as well as methods for modifying the genetic integrity of human germline cells, will not be eligible for patents. Additionally, the use of human embryos for industrial purposes has also been excluded from patentability.
The draft law underwent a thorough review and was put to a vote, where it was adopted in the third reading, solidifying the country's stance on these biotechnological issues.
