Hybrid Attacks Intensify Against Azerbaijan

Baku:The Milli Majlis Temporary Commission on Foreign Interference and Hybrid Threats has reported an increase in hybrid attacks targeting Azerbaijan. These attacks have intensified as Azerbaijan's international influence grows under President Ilham Aliyev's leadership, with the country playing a significant role in energy security and regional transit corridors.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, Azerbaijan has been subjected to religious and ideological provocations, along with coordinated information operations and cyberattacks. These actions aim to undermine the country's stability by targeting national values and beliefs under the guise of promoting various freedoms.

Investigations have found that these attacks are orchestrated by influence agents and covert organizations within and outside Azerbaijan. The digital landscape is rife with manipulation efforts carried out by hacker groups, foreign media, and fake accounts, intending to polarize society and erode trust in state institutions.

The statement from the Milli Majlis highlights that hostile forces from neighboring countries are using digital platforms to spread disinformation, aiming to create divisions along ethnic, religious, and political lines. These actors leverage computational propaganda to encourage the spread of misleading information, creating an echo chamber effect that reinforces existing beliefs and deepens societal fragmentation.

Despite these challenges, the Azerbaijani public has largely resisted these provocations, supporting state efforts to counteract divisive content. The Commission emphasizes its commitment to repelling these hybrid threats and acknowledges the support from citizens of friendly countries who oppose anti-Azerbaijan activities.
