ICDO Secretary-General Discusses Cooperation with UN Office at Geneva

Geneva: The Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, engaged in a meeting with Ms. Tatiana Valovaya, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG), at the Palais des Nations. The meeting aimed at reinforcing institutional cooperation between ICDO and the United Nations system in Geneva.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the discussions addressed various issues, including ICDO’s observer status at the UN General Assembly and its participation in Geneva-based multilateral mechanisms. The conversation also explored prospects for enhanced cooperation with UN bodies. Both parties emphasized the significance of increased coordination and collaboration in the domains of disaster risk reduction, emergency preparedness, and humanitarian response.

The Secretary-General highlighted ICDO’s commitment to contributing to disaster risk reduction efforts and expressed interest in collaborating closely with the UN system and its agencies to build resilience and protect communities. Ms. Valovaya acknowledged ICDO’s involvement and supported ongoing dialogue to ensure the organization’s active participation in Geneva’s multilateral processes.

Both parties concurred on the importance of maintaining close coordination and exploring tangible partnership opportunities to further strengthen mutual relations and contribute to international humanitarian and disaster-management efforts.
