Baku: The Director General of ICESCO, Salim bin Mohammed Al-Malik, has addressed a congratulatory letter to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of November 8 – Victory Day, APA reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the letter expressed heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the leadership and people of Azerbaijan from both Al-Malik personally and the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO). This occasion commemorates not only the restoration of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity but also marks a significant triumph of justice and the start of a new era of peace, development, and reconstruction in the South Caucasus region.
The letter highlights the crucial process of restoration and rehabilitation, particularly in the area of cultural heritage, which is seen as a representation of the identity and spirit of the Azerbaijani people and the broader Islamic world. Al-Malik noted the dispatch of two international technical missions by ICESCO to the liberated territories in previous years, aimed at assessing the situation and providing recommendations for safeguarding and restoring cultural heritage impacted by the occupation. These initiatives are considered vital for preserving Azerbaijan’s cultural legacy and serve as a model for heritage protection in post-conflict regions globally.
Al-Malik further observed the rapid and impressive changes occurring in Karabakh, citing the reconstruction of cities and villages, the rehabilitation of cultural and religious landmarks, educational institutions, and the revival of community life as evidence of significant progress. These achievements are seen as a testament to President Aliyev’s visionary leadership and dedication to building a prosperous and peaceful future for Azerbaijan.
The letter concludes with a reiteration of warm congratulations on this important national occasion, along with best wishes for continued peace, progress, and prosperity for Azerbaijan under President Aliyev’s leadership. Al-Malik also emphasized his highest consideration and esteem for President Aliyev in the closing remarks.
