ICESCO Evaluates 81 Cultural Heritage Sites in Azerbaijan’s Liberated Territories

Azerbaijan: ICESCO has assessed the condition of 81 cultural heritage sites in Azerbaijan's liberated territories, APA reports. This evaluation is part of the activities outlined by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2025, where information on mass graves discovered in these territories was also submitted to the UN Human Rights Council's Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the assessment was a result of cooperation between Azerbaijan and ICESCO, which led to the organization of a second international technical mission to the liberated territories. This mission included representatives from ICESCO and international experts who aimed to evaluate the post-conflict condition of cultural heritage sites.

The report generated from this mission assesses the damage inflicted on cultural properties by Armenia during the occupation period. It provides a detailed condition and individual assessment of 81 cultural heritage monuments, highlighting the impact of the occupation on Azerbaijan's cultural heritage.
