IEA Adjusts Kazakhstan’s Oil Production Forecast for 2025


ASTANA: Kazakhstan’s oil production is projected to reach 2.02 million barrels per day (mb/d) in 2025, following a revised outlook from the International Energy Agency (IEA). The agency has slightly adjusted its forecast, reducing the expected output by 0.01 mb/d. In the first quarter of 2025, Kazakhstan is anticipated to produce around 1.96 mb/d, with production rising to 2 mb/d in the second quarter and further increasing to 2.03 mb/d by the third quarter.

According to Trend News Agency, the IEA’s projections for 2024 indicate an average oil production of 1.88 mb/d for Kazakhstan. This includes an estimated output of 1.86 mb/d in the third quarter, with a decrease to 1.82 mb/d in the fourth quarter. For the current year, 2023, Kazakhstan’s average oil production was recorded at 1.93 mb/d, showing a year-on-year increase of 0.11 mb/d.

In terms of total production, Kazakhstan produced 90 million tons in 2023, representing a 6.9 percent increase compared to 2022. The country has set an ambitious target to bo
ost production to 97.2 million tons by 2025 and plans to further increase output to 104.8 million tons by 2029.
