Abu dhabi: One of the key issues for energy security in the era of electricity is how quickly new grids, energy storage systems, and other sources of energy system flexibility can be built, APA-Economics reports, citing the International Energy Agency’s ‘World Energy Outlook – 2025’ (WEO-2025) report.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, some elements of the energy infrastructure are currently lagging behind. While investment in electricity generation has surged by about 70% since 2015, the annual network costs have not kept pace, increasing at less than half that rate.

The WEO-2025 report highlights that renewable energy, particularly solar photovoltaic (PV), is projected to be the fastest growing energy source across all scenarios. By 2035, regions with high solar radiation are expected to account for 80% of the growth in global energy demand.

Additionally, the report indicates a global resurgence in nuclear power, with investments flowing into both traditional large-scale plants and innovative small modular reactors. After over two decades of stagnation, global nuclear power capacity is anticipated to grow by at least a third by 2035.
