Baku: Russia’s pipeline gas supplies to the European Union decreased by 45% (or 10 billion cubic meters) year-on-year in the first to third quarters of 2025 amid the suspension of gas transit through Ukraine.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, citing the International Energy Agency’s (IEA) report “Gas 2025. Analysis and Forecasts to 2030”, the share of Russian pipeline gas in Europe’s total gas demand during this period is estimated to have fallen below 10%.

The report indicates that while the EU’s pipeline gas imports from North Africa have remained mostly stable, gas flows from Azerbaijan through the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) decreased by 2% (or 0.2 billion cubic meters) in the first to third quarters of 2025. Notably, the transportation of Azerbaijani gas to Europe via TAP began on December 31, 2020.
