Baku:President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Ramzan Kadyrov, the Head of the Chechen Republic of Russia, visited Baku White City.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Ruslan Sadikhov, the Executive Director of the Baku White City project, provided Ramzan Kadyrov with a briefing on the area's facilities and amenities.
The area, previously known as the 'Black City,' underwent a significant transformation initiated by President Aliyev. For over 150 years, the site was heavily polluted by oil industry waste, with numerous oil pools. The environmental project has since converted it into a modern residential district.
Baku White City, launched on December 24, 2011, with President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva in attendance, is now recognized as a leading example of modern urban planning. The project emphasizes environmental sustainability and smart-city planning, featuring wide streets, green spaces, international sculptures, and cutting-edge urban innovations.
