Baku: In a recent statement, President Ilham Aliyev expressed confidence that the official signing of a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia should occur without delay. He emphasized this during an interview discussing the outcomes of his visit to the United States, as reported by APA. Aliyev highlighted that the initialing process was already underway at the White House.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev noted that the removal of Armenia’s territorial claims against Azerbaijan is crucial for the peace agreement’s success. He stressed that any delay in this process would not only be disrespectful to the United States but also counterproductive to the progress achieved so far. Aliyev reiterated that the resolution of territorial claims is well understood by major international actors, including the US.

Aliyev further stated that the timing of constitutional changes in Armenia, which would eliminate the territorial claims, remains a decision for the Armenian side. However, he urged that there should be no time wasted in moving forward with the peace process, noting that both countries have already initialed the agreement. He expressed his belief that the official signing should follow promptly to ensure lasting peace and stability in the region.
