Khojaly: President Ilham Aliyev announced that approximately 20 countries have officially recognized the Khojaly genocide as an act of genocide. He described this event as the greatest tragedy for the Azerbaijani people and emphasized the ongoing efforts by Azerbaijan's state and various organizations to raise global awareness about it. This announcement was made during the opening of the Khojaly Genocide Memorial in Khojaly.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev acknowledged the significant role played by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in these efforts. He highlighted the Foundation's 'Justice for Khojaly!' campaign, spearheaded by its Vice-President, Leyla Aliyeva, which has been active for the past 20 years. The campaign has organized numerous events, presentations, symposiums, and conferences worldwide, alongside publishing various books and materials. Aliyev noted that these initiatives were crucial in countering attempts by Armenian propagandists to obscure the tragedy and shift blame onto Azerbaijan. The persistent efforts of Azerbaijan have been instrumental in ensuring the international community receives accurate information about the Khojaly genocide, leading to its recognition by multiple countries.
