Ilham Aliyev received EU special representative and Slovak Foreign Minister

Prospects for the development of relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union were discussed on Tuesday at a meeting between President Ilham Aliyev and EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Toivo Klaar.

According to the website of the President, the sides stated that the EU attaches great importance to cooperation with Baku. It was also noted that Azerbaijan is a reliable partner of the EU.

It was also stressed that last summer Aliyev’s meeting with the President of the European Council, Charles Michel contributed to the development of relations between Azerbaijan and the EU.

Toivo expressed EU’s readiness to contribute to strengthening the stability and peace and building the atmosphere of trust in the region.

Views were also exchanged due to the forthcoming EU Eastern Partnership summit.

Today President Aliyev received Ivan Korchok, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia.

During the conversation the sides discussed issues of development of relations between Azerbaijan and Slovakia and the EU. Korchok showed Slovak companies’ interest in the participation of rehabilitation and improvement projects in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan.
