Accra:The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has revised its forecasts for Azerbaijan's balance of payments current account surplus for the years 2026-2027.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, the IMF's updated projections indicate that Azerbaijan's current account surplus is expected to be 11.3% of the gross domestic product (GDP) in 2026 and 9.8% in 2027. These figures represent an increase from the IMF's previous forecasts released in May, which estimated the surplus at 9.7% for 2026 and 5.4% for 2027.
The updated forecasts reflect a rise of 1.6 percentage points for 2026 and 4.4 percentage points for 2027. In the first half of 2026, Azerbaijan's current account surplus amounted to $4.7 billion, or 12.4% of GDP.
