Injuries Found on Remains in Liberated Karabakh Territories

Baku:Injuries sustained while alive have been detected on the remains of 474 people in liberated territories, as reported by the Director of the Union of Forensic Medical Examination and Pathological Anatomy.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, Adalat Hasanov shared that 328 individuals who went missing during the First Karabakh War have been identified through forensic molecular genetic examinations. He provided these details during a panel discussion at the 4th International Conference, which was part of the Baku Dialogue on Missing Persons.

Among the identified civilians, 15 were women and two were minors. The Union has received human remains believed to belong to a total of 913 missing persons from the liberated territories of Karabakh. Examinations of skeletal remains in laboratories have revealed various injuries, including gunshot and shrapnel wounds, as well as injuries caused by blunt objects.

Upon completion of forensic examinations, biological samples are taken from several areas of each skeleton, particularly healthy teeth, and forwarded to the Genetic Research Center of the State Security Service for forensic identification.
