International Travelers Tour Historic Azykh Cave

Khojavend:A group of international travelers, led by Charles Veley, founder of the Most Traveled People club, has embarked on a visit to the regions of Karabakh and East Zangezur.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, around 40 travelers from 13 countries, including the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom, visited Azykh Cave in the Khojavend district. They were briefed on the cave’s historical and archaeological importance.

The Azykh Cave is recognized as one of the largest limestone caves in the South Caucasus and ranks among the oldest human settlements in Eurasia. Notably, Azykh Cave, along with Taghlar Cave, was added to UNESCO's World Heritage Tentative List in 2021.

During their visit, the travelers learned about archaeological research that took place in the cave during the occupation period. Excavations conducted since 2002, without Azerbaijan's consent, involved Armenian archaeologists and foreign researchers, who reportedly took the findings to Armenia.

Following their tour of Azykh Cave, the travelers have continued on to the city of Shusha and are scheduled to visit the city of Aghdam later in the day.
