International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation publishes Azerba?jani version of book “Alisher Navoi. Works”

The works of Alisher Navoi, a great poet and thinker of Uzbekistan and the Turkic World as a whole, have been published in the Azerbaijani language under the auspices of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation.

The publication reflects select works created with high artistic and aesthetic skill by Alisher Navoi, one of the great representatives of medieval Turkic literature. The book features information about the life and creativity of Navoi, selected parts from the poems “Heyrat ul-Abrar”, “Farhad and Shirin”, “Leyli and Majnun”, “Sab`ayi-sayyar” and “Saddi-Iskanderi”, which are included in the poet’s Khamsa, as well as excerpts from his treatises and divans “Mahbub ul-ghulub”, “Risaleyi-Tiir andakhten”, “Khalti-Seyid Hasan Ardashir” and “Khalti-Mahammad Pahlavan”.

The book opens with a foreword by the president of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Gunay Afandiyeva. The compiler of the book, translator from Chagatai, as well as the author of notes and comments, is the head of the Department of Turkology of Baku State University, Doctor of Philology, Professor Ramiz Asgar. He was awarded the title of honorary citizen of the city of Navoi for his efforts in the field of promotion of poet creative work. A significant part of the scientist’s work is dedicated to the study of Uzbek literature, writing many articles and creating translations in this field. Thus, Ramiz Asgar was awarded the Babur International Prize for the translation of “Baburname”.

The book includes 56 colored miniatures based on the themes of the poet’s works. The publication features a glossary and a list of literature.
