“Another issue put forward by Armenia before the International Court of Justice was to determine commitment to Azerbaijan regarding the free and fully sustainable passage of all people, transport vehicles, and cargo through Lachin road. Our position in this regard was also stated,” said Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov at a briefing, regarding the decision of the ICJ on the application of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, held on February 22, 2023, APA reports.

“It was noted that according to the trilateral statement, the control of Lachin road belongs to Russian peacekeepers and Azerbaijan’s commitment is to ensure the security of passages for humanitarian purposes. It was voiced in the court hearings that Azerbaijan is loyal to its obligations, as it has been until today. It was guaranteed that the security of movements namely for humanitarian purposes will be ensured. When the court announced its decision, it stressed that Azerbaijan was loyal to its commitment,” emphasized Deputy Minister.
