Baku: Investigations have proven that 170 Azerbaijani prisoners were tortured to death, stated the Deputy Head of the State Security Service of Azerbaijan, General-Lieutenant Sharafat Hasanov. The announcement was made during the presentation of the “Assessment Report on the Search for Missing Persons in the Republic of Azerbaijan” by the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP), organized by the State Commission for Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the report highlights that out of 3,983 missing individuals, 3,209 are military personnel, while 774 are civilians. It further detailed that among the civilians, 75 are minors, 116 are women, and 315 are elderly people.
