Iran and Russia Accelerate Oil and Gas Collaborations


ASHGABAT—Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Russian President Vladimir Putin have committed to expedite their joint oil, gas, and energy projects, signaling a deepened collaboration between the two nations.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, as reported by the Azeri-Press News Agency, the agreement was reached during a one-hour meeting between Pezeshkian and Putin in Ashgabat, on the sidelines of the international forum titled “Interrelation of Times and Civilizations – the Basis of Peace and Development”. The Iranian president’s press service released a video where Pezeshkian highlighted the “constructive interaction” between the two countries and their readiness to accelerate initiatives across multiple sectors, including road and railway construction, water desalination, and energy supply, particularly focusing on gas, petrochemicals, and electricity.



Pezeshkian also pointed out the strategic nature of these partnerships in mitigating the adverse effects of international sanctions against Iran. By advancing these projects, Tehran aims to “significantly reduce the negative impact of sanctions” through robust economic ties with Russia and other neighboring countries.
