Iran has decided not to send a new ambassador to Sweden following an incident involving the insulting of the Holy Quran, the state media IRNA announced citing the source in the Foreign Ministry, APA reports.
It was reported that despite having finalized the necessary administrative procedures for appointing a new ambassador to Sweden, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran has decided to postpone sending a new ambassador due to an incident involving the disrespectful treatment of the Holy Quran.
Earlier, ISNA reported that Iran's newly appointed ambassador to Sweden met with the Foreign Minister before his departure.
The new ambassador has held diplomatic posts in Tbilisi and Brussels. He was also Iran's ambassador to Tajikistan.
Note that Iran condemned the burning of the "Quran-Karim" in Sweden, and the Swedish ambassador was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
