Iran Requests Rosatom to Investigate Bushehr Nuclear Plant Restart


Moscow: Iran has appealed to Russia’s state nuclear energy corporation Rosatom to explore possibilities for restarting the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) project as soon as possible, said Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev, Vesti channel reports.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the head of Iran’s nuclear industry, who also serves as the country’s vice president, approached Alexey Likhachev with a request to identify opportunities to resume the project and commence work promptly. Likhachev expressed that Rosatom is morally prepared to take on the task, although current conditions are not yet conducive to restarting the project. He noted that the signal from Iran’s nuclear sector generates a certain degree of optimism.
