Azerbaijan will study the possibility of supplying Iraqi oil and oil products to world markets through the state-owned SOCAR company, the press service of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Energy said on Friday.

On September 24, Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov met in Baku with Iraqi Oil Minister Ihsan Abdul Jabbar, during which these issues were discussed.

“The high level of relations between the two countries and joint work to regulate the world oil market are the basis for our future cooperation,” Shahbazov said.

Jabbar, in turn, noted that Iraq is interested in active cooperation with Azerbaijan in the oil and g-as and processing spheres, the Ministry of Energy said.

Today, the Iraqi minister was received by President Ilham Aliyev. The meeting noted the high level of bilateral relations in the political sphere. The Iraqi minister said that Baghdad considers Azerbaijan to be an important partner in energy issues.

It should be noted that during the negotiations, the routes for the supply of Iraqi oil through Azerbaijan were not named, or information about this was not indicated in the messages.
