Israeli FM’s representative: Jewish community living in Azerbaijan plays role of a bridge between two countries

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov has met with a delegation led by Political Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel Aliza Bin Noun.

The Israeli delegation included high-ranking officials of the Central Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Israeli Ambassadors in Eurasian countries.

During the meeting, the sides discussed various aspects of bilateral and multilateral relations, as well as prospects for cooperation between the two countries in the fields of economy, security, education, high technology and other areas.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov hailed the current level of development of diplomatic relations, which marked the 30th anniversary of their establishment last year, and bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Israel, highlighting the centuries-old history of coexistence between the two peoples.

FM Bayramov noted that the activities of Azerbaijan’s Trade and Tourism Representative Office, as well as the recent establishment of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Israel will significantly contribute to the further development of relations.

During the meeting, the Israeli side was informed about Armenia’s policy of aggression against Azerbaijan, the almost 30-year Armenian occupation of Azerbaijani lands, the steps and initiatives taken by Azerbaijan towards the normalization of relations with Armenia, as well as the peace process after the 44-day Patriotic War. The minister also informed the Israeli delegation about the provocations committed by Armenia.

Aliza Bin Noun noted that the meeting of Israeli Ambassadors in Eurasian countries in Baku is an indication of the importance that Israel attaches to relations with Azerbaijan. She said that the Jewish community living in Azerbaijan plays the role of a bridge between the two countries, adding that the Israeli side is interested in increasing efforts to further develop the existing cooperation between Israel and Azerbaijan in bilateral and multilateral formats.

During the meeting, the sides emphasized the importance of dialogue and high-level visits between the two countries, as well as discussed international and regional issues of mutual interest.
