Baku: The evacuation of foreign citizens from Iran is underway, as APA's southern bureau reports. Among those evacuated is an Italian citizen who has been ensured safe passage to Azerbaijan. According to Azeri-Press news agency, a total of 13 individuals have been evacuated as of midnight. Of these, 12 are Azerbaijani citizens, including three children, while one is an Italian national. The evacuation efforts have been necessitated by the deteriorating situation in Iran, prompting Azerbaijani citizens to return to their homeland. The Azerbaijani government, in response to the escalating tensions, has facilitated the free passage of its citizens through the Astara border crossing point. All necessary arrangements have been made at the site to ensure a smooth and secure transit for those returning from Iran. Further reports from APA's southern bureau indicate that two additional Azerbaijani citizens have successfully crossed the Iran-Azerbaijan border. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had previously issued a warning to Azerbaijani nationals, advising them to avoid travel to Iran and urging those currently in the country to depart through Azerbaijan or Turkey, depending on their location.
