ITU Regional Director Highlights Azerbaijan’s Internet Usage Statistics

Baku: “65% of women worldwide are internet users. In Azerbaijan, this figure is higher,” said Natalia Mochu, the Regional Director of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), at the event titled “Online Azerbaijan: A New Stage in Digitization”, APA-Economics reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Mochu highlighted that in Azerbaijan, 92% of men and 85% of women are internet users. She addressed the need to reduce the disparity in internet usage between urban and rural populations. Internationally, half of the rural population used the internet last year, while in Azerbaijan, this figure is higher, with 94.5% of urban and 80% of rural populations accessing the internet.

Mochu also noted that globally, 79% of individuals aged 15-24 use the internet. In Azerbaijan, the number is more impressive, with 91.2% of this age group being internet users.
