Baku: Jamil Hasanli was released after his testimony as a witness was taken, APA reports. The Chairman of the National Council and former MP, Jamil Hasanli, was summoned to the State Security Service (SSS) today to provide testimony as a witness in the ongoing criminal case against the former head of the Presidential Administration, Ramiz Mehdiyev.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Ramiz Mehdiyev is under investigation by the State Security Service (SSS), and Jamil Hasanli was called in for questioning related to this case. Hasanli, who had plans to travel to Dubai with his wife for a family event related to his daughter, discovered at the airport that an exit ban had been placed on him. Despite this, his wife was able to leave the country.
The investigation into Ramiz Mehdiyev has also led to searches at the homes of National Council member and Popular Front Party (AXCP) Chairman Ali Karimli, as well as AXCP Presidium member Mammad Ibrahim. Both individuals were subsequently questioned by the SSS. Reports indicate that these actions are part of the broader investigation involving Mehdiyev.
Additionally, another National Council member, Gultekin Hacibeyli, has been detained in Turkey and is expected to be deported to Azerbaijan. The charges against Ramiz Mehdiyev include actions aimed at seizing state power, treason, and money laundering of property obtained through criminal means, under Articles 278.1, 274, and 193-1.3.2 of the Criminal Code.
