Japan logged 84,936 daily coronavirus infections on Saturday, a new record for the fifth consecutive day, as the Omicron variant continues to spread across the country, APA reports citing The Guardian.

The number has more than tripled from two weeks ago.

The Osaka prefecture reported a record 10,383 casesand Tokyo 17,433, slightly down from Friday’s record of 17,631.
