Tbilisi: 'There is no alternative to deepening peaceful and friendly relations between the countries of the region,' said Mayor of Tbilisi Kakha Kaladze as he commented on the visit of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to Georgia. 'I welcome this visit. Taking into account the difficult processes taking place in the Middle East, there is no alternative to peace. We have friendly relations with Azerbaijan. Such visits by the leaders of our countries contribute to the deepening of friendly relations,' Kakha Kaladze stated.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Kaladze expressed concern over the lack of recognition from some European politicians regarding Georgia's crucial role in the Middle Corridor. He remarked that unlike the President of Azerbaijan, these politicians deliberately avoid discussing Georgia's strategic importance.
Kaladze emphasized Georgia's significant geopolitical position, stating, 'Our geopolitical position is important for everyone. Therefore, the use of Georgia in this corridor is desirable.' He criticized the political decision of some European figures to overlook Georgia's role, attributing it to recent experiences of blackmail, insults, and threats against the country.
Kaladze further added that this negative attitude is unacceptable and stems from Georgia's refusal to take actions detrimental to its economic development and the well-being of its citizens. He asserted that these are the reasons behind the aggressive stance towards Georgia.
