Karim Valiyev Engages in CIS Military Dialogue in Astana

Astana: The city of Astana hosted a significant meeting of the Committee of Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member states, attended by Colonel General Karim Valiyev, the First Deputy Minister of Defense and Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijan Army. Valiyev's presence marked an official visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan, as reported by the Ministry of Defense to APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, before the meeting commenced, delegation leaders paid their respects at the 'Defenders of the Motherland' Monument by laying wreaths and honoring the memory of the Heroes. This act set a solemn tone for the discussions that followed.

During the committee meeting, attendees engaged in a thorough exchange of views regarding the current state and future potential of military cooperation within the CIS. The dialogue also focused on maintaining peace and security, along with addressing other shared concerns.

Colonel General Karim Valiyev addressed the gathering, discussing the military-political dynamics in the South Caucasus. He highlighted the new reality grounded in historical justice that has emerged following Azerbaijan's restoration of territorial integrity and sovereignty.
