Almaty: The name for Kazakhstan’s first nuclear power plant will be picked through a countrywide contest, Trend reports via the press service of the Atomic Energy Agency of Kazakhstan. The Atomic Energy Agency has initiated preparations for the contest, aimed at selecting the best name for the nuclear power plant planned for construction in the Zhambyl district of the Almaty region.
According to Trend News Agency, a working group has been established by order of the agency in line with a proposal by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This group is tasked with developing a competition algorithm and draft rules, which include deadlines and procedures for submitting and reviewing proposals, with a deadline set for August 29.
Furthermore, a competitive adjudication panel will be formed, comprising stakeholders from the general populace, the creative sector, and specialists in nuclear energy, linguistics, and historiography. The agency plans to implement a comprehensive informational and outreach initiative using media platforms and formal communication channels.
On June 16, it was revealed that Rosatom has been selected as the principal contractor for developing the nation’s first nuclear power facility, following the results of a competitive bidding process.
