Turkmenbashi:Kazakhstan has proposed that Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan collaborate on creating a declaration for the responsible use of artificial intelligence. This proposal was put forward by Kazakhstan's President, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, during the 8th Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Central Asian countries.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, President Tokayev emphasized the need for joint efforts to develop approaches that ensure control over critical technologies. This comes amid a backdrop of global instability, where maintaining regional peace and stability is a primary concern.
The President highlighted ongoing security threats, including terrorism, drug trafficking, arms and human trafficking, illegal migration, organized crime, and fraud. He expressed particular concern over the use of digital technologies by criminals, such as drug cartels, and stressed the importance of adapting countermeasures to modern challenges.
Additionally, Tokayev called for the preservation of the region's rich historical and cultural heritage, to be passed down to future generations. He suggested enhancing humanitarian cooperation through youth exchanges, university partnerships, and dialogues among creative communities.
He also proposed organizing a youth forum on volunteering in 2027 under the theme "Central Asia - a common space of good deeds." Furthermore, Tokayev advocated for developing a shared calendar of major cultural, sporting, tourism, and scientific events to boost mutual visits and attract tourists through combined tour packages.
Tokayev underscored the significance of the Consultative Meetings as a forum for direct dialogue among leaders without excessive formalities. He noted that only a fraction of the more than 200 regional initiatives proposed since 2018 have been implemented, urging foreign policy agencies to assess their relevance and implementation status.
