Kazakhstan has not yet received an official proposal to create a “gas” union with the Russian Federation and Uzbekistan, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov said. “We have not received any official proposals to create a tripartite” gas “union at the moment. Accordingly, when we receive it, then we will consider it,” Smailov said. At the same time, he clarified that bilateral negotiations are currently underway with the Russian Federation.

“Now bilateral negotiations are underway on cooperation in the field of gas supply with the Russian Federation. Currently, we are waiting for the next round of negotiations with “Gazprom,” and all these relations will be built on a commercial and mutually beneficial basis. That is, we continue this work in a bilateral format” he explained.

Earlier, Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Bolat Akchulakov reported that Kazakhstan, Russia, and Uzbekistan are discussing the technical capabilities of gas transportation systems
