Kazakhstan has prevented a coup d’etat – CSTO

An online meeting of CSTO leaders on Monday confirmed statements of the Kazakh authorities that the events in the country had been a hostile act engineered by foreign forces.

Kazakh leader Tokayev reiterated that the country was attacked by 20,000 militants trained abroad. He is sure that they were trained abroad in order to seize power.

Lukashenko was more outspoken as saying that the West was behind the events in Kazakhstan. He warned the authorities in Uzbekistan and Tajikistan that the next unrest awaits their countries.

The Russian President spoke in the same vein drawing parallels with the events in Ukraine and seeing a “Maidan scenario” in the events in Kazakhstan.

Tajik President Emomali Rakhmon agreed with Lukashenko as saying that there were 6,000 militants in the camps on the Tajik-Uzbek border.
