Baku:Professional media plays a critical role in addressing disinformation and hate speech amid rising geopolitical tensions, according to Khalaf Khalafov, Representative of the President of Azerbaijan on Special Assignments. Speaking at the CICA Media Forum on 'Building Trust through Media in a Polarized World,' held in Baku, Khalafov emphasized the importance of objective and responsible journalism in strengthening mutual trust among states and societies.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Khalafov underscored the need for expanding international cooperation and enhancing joint media efforts to tackle global challenges. He highlighted that Azerbaijan prioritizes media sector cooperation during its chairmanship, focusing on professional exchange within a unified information space and combating disinformation.

Khalafov also pointed out the serious challenges to global security posed by violations of international law, including sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as terrorism, separatism, extremism, cyber threats, and risks related to food, energy, water, and climate security. He affirmed that international law is essential for building a just world order and securing lasting peace.
