Baku: The Baku Military Court has resumed hearings on the cases concerning Azerbaijani citizens who endured suffering during the former Armenian occupation of Azerbaijani territories, APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the court heard the testimony of Farman Mammadov, a resident of Khojaly, who was taken captive on February 27, 1992, a day after the Khojaly genocide. At just 10 years old, Mammadov witnessed fellow captives being shot while being held hostage. He described a harrowing ten days of captivity, during which he and other Azerbaijani hostages were subjected to severe beatings and torture by Armenian forces.

Another victim, Valeh Huseynov, shared his traumatic experiences from the same period. Huseynov, a resident of Khojaly, was taken captive after being wounded in the conflict. He recounted the tragedy of losing his wife, who was shot dead during the genocide. Huseynov also detailed the brutality faced by civilians, including being blocked by military equipment and subjected to shelling. During his captivity in Asgaran, Huseynov suffered severe torture; his identity as a guitarist led to especially cruel treatment, as his nails were pulled out, fingers broken, and hand put in an oven. He recalled the names of his torturers as Manvel, Garik, Slavik, among others. Huseynov was eventually released to Azerbaijan after 27 days in captivity.

The court proceedings continue with Armenian nationals facing charges of war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide, and other serious offenses, including terrorism and the violent seizure and retention of power.
