Khojaly Genocide Victims Commemorated at Azerbaijani Embassy in Moscow

Moscow: The Azerbaijani Embassy in Russia held a commemorative event marking the 34th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide. The ceremony was attended by heads and staff of diplomatic missions in Russia, military attaches, cultural and artistic figures from Azerbaijan and Russia, medical and education specialists, as well as members of the Azerbaijani community and Azerbaijani students studying in Russian universities.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Russia, Rahman Mustafayev, welcomed the guests and recalled the atrocities committed by Armenian armed forces on the night of February 26, 1992. During this tragic event, 613 civilians, including women, children, and the elderly, were killed, 487 were permanently disabled, and many went missing.

The ambassador also highlighted the 'Justice for Khojaly!' international campaign, initiated by Leyla Aliyeva in 2008. This campaign aims to raise awareness about the Garabagh conflict and encourage political and legal recognition of the genocide.

Following the official ceremony, attendees viewed a documentary on the Khojaly tragedy and a short version of the new film 'ANAMA' by Azerbaijani director Murad Ibrahimbayov, which focuses on the work of Azerbaijan's Mine Action Agency.
