Astana: The Embassy of Azerbaijan in Kazakhstan hosted a commemorative event dedicated to the 34th anniversary of the Khojaly tragedy. The event was attended by members of the Azerbaijani community living in Astana, experts, as well as Azerbaijani students studying in the country.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Kazakhstan, Aghalar Atamoglanov, addressed the gathering, stating that the Khojaly tragedy represents one of the most severe chapters of the genocide and ethnic cleansing policy carried out by Armenia against the Azerbaijani people. He highlighted that, through the initiative of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the Khojaly genocide received the necessary political and legal recognition.
Furthermore, Atamoglanov emphasized the significance of the "Justice for Khojaly!" international awareness campaign, launched by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. This campaign has significantly bolstered awareness and advocacy efforts regarding the tragedy. The ambassador also noted Azerbaijan's restoration of its territorial integrity and historical justice through its victory in the 44-day Patriotic War in 2020 and the anti-terror measures undertaken in September 2023.
