Baku: "We are pleased to witness development and modernization in Azerbaijan," stated His Majesty King Mswati III of Eswatini during the Leaders' Session within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, King Mswati III expressed his honor to participate in the forum held in Baku under the theme "Housing the World: Safe and Sustainable Cities and Communities." He emphasized the importance of this theme, highlighting it as a key responsibility of the current era, which aims to enhance human dignity and improve the quality of life globally. The King noted that billions of people worldwide still encounter challenges such as inadequate housing, rapid urbanization, climate disasters, poverty, and lack of infrastructure, affecting both developed and developing nations. He underlined the significance of housing as a symbol of dignity, security, stability, and hope, serving as the foundation for strong families and resilient communities.
King Mswati III emphasized the need to invest in renewable energy, green infrastructure, climate-resilient systems, smart technologies, and sustainable construction methods, always prioritizing people. He called for balancing renewable energy and traditional electricity sources to ensure sustainable economic development. During the forum discussions, he urged participants to remain committed to practical solutions and a renewed determination to build inclusive, sustainable, safe, and resilient cities and communities. The King also expressed gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev, the Government, and the people of Azerbaijan for their hospitality, noting his pride in witnessing the impressive development and modernization in Azerbaijan. He lauded Baku as a symbol of innovation and progress while preserving its rich heritage.
